In the course of the story, Garth meets his true love. The reader gets to know the endearing characters and their individual traits while unravelling the twisted underlying causes of all their tribulations. There is a full cast, including the children of the village, the aliens who appear to save them and a gory array of monsters, as well as incredible weapons unheard of by mere humans.
