FBI Special Agent Julie Ann Davidson isn’t assigned the case, but she works it anyway because she knows the Collins family. Add in a baffling case of internet thievery, and Ann and her partner, Patrick Duncan, have plenty to think about.
Who took the Collins family and why?
One thing’s certain: time is running out.
If Ann and Patrick don’t work fast, Rachel Collins and her kids will die.
Interview with the Author:
Q: What makes the Heartfelt Cases series special?
A: Heartfelt Cases is a mystery/suspense series featuring a pair of FBI agents handling some very personal cases. It fits in the Christian mystery niche, and most reviewers agree it hits that mark without being preachy. It’s Christian because the characters happen to be believers. That’s it. They’re normal people with a crazy job that sometimes dumps a heap of trouble on their doorstep. Life’s full of ups and downs. Most of our stressors won’t almost kill us, but hopefully, many people can relate to the desire to handle stressful situations with a measure of peace and grace.
Q: What order should I read them in?
A: They’re designed so that you should be able to read them in any order as standalones, but you’ll get the richest flow of side events from reading:
The Collins Case
The Kiverson Case
The Davidson Case
The Keres Case
The Quinn Case (This is a short prequel that will be available shortly. It was first in Where the Light May Lead, a Christian anthology. My philosophy of prequels is shifting. I think they’re more useful as enhancements to further get to know characters you’ve already met.)
Q: Where does this book fit in the series? What theme(s) make it special?
A: The Collins Case is Book 1. This is where we meet the dynamic duo of Ann and Patrick as well as their close friends. (She goes by Ann. Only her mother calls her Julie Ann.) One of my narrators recently pointed out that I have a thing for kidnapping. I guess if you read the book description, you probably agree with her.
Q: Why should readers check out this series?
A: These are super clean, kid and adult-safe mysteries. If you’re looking for gritty, this probably ain’t it. If you’re looking for a quick, light mystery fix, then I have a story to tell you.
Q: Can the reader get the whole series at once?
A: The first three cases are novellas that are combined in Heartfelt Cases Books 1-3. The 4th case is a full novel that’s available separately. Check out my website for news of future bundles.
Invisible burglars who take nothing, but frighten the cat at meal times? This is hardly a case worthy of newly-promoted Chief Inspector Morgan. But when valuable jewels go missing and an attempt is made on Blandthorpe Fargenstropple’s life, Morgan jumps into action with keen interest. Of course, it helps that Blandthorpe’s niece looks nothing like a gargoyle.
With a quirky cast of characters, witty banter, a little romance, more than a fair sampling of animal life, and plenty of ridiculous mishaps, this cozy mystery will challenge your ability to read in any sort of dignified manner–so grab a tray of tea and crumpets and plan to laugh out loud.
“What an amusing, entertaining mystery. I so enjoyed the British-ness and the humor.” ~ Mimi Barbour, NY Times and USA Today best-selling author
“Farce is hard. Farce that is energetic without being exhausting is harder. Farce that is coupled with clever dialogue and disarmingly perceptive observational humor may be the hardest of all. You get all of that here, and isn’t that a wonderful treat?” ~ TOP 500 Amazon Reviewer
“A wickedly funny mystery. It is a relatively quick and light read that will have you laughing from beginning to end.” VINE VOICE Amazon Reviewer

What it’s about:
Memoirs of a Girl Who Loves God is the story of disturbed 14-year-old girl, Krystal. Her life is falling apart: her mother’s just cheated on her father and had a baby for another man, her father has moved out, and her school grades are abysmal. And so she takes a shard of glass and cuts her wrist…
What we love about it:
In most other writers’ hands, Krystal’s story, and those of many of the people she meets along the way, would be unremittingly bleak and depressing. There are very few things I’d want to read about less than a teenage girl who is so emotionally wrought that she finds solace in cutting her own wrists. But CL Wells skillfully manages to sweep us along in the tale without weighing us down too much with Krystal’s sadness.
A lot of the brightness comes from Krystal’s best friend, Em, a bubbly ray of sunshine who convinces Krystal to volunteer at a Christian homeless shelter, and from Brandon, the very cute guy she meets there.
I happen to have volunteered at a homeless shelter in my youth and CL Wells’ description of the shelter brought my memories flooding back. Krystal is surrounded by an eclectic group of fellow volunteers and guests, and some of the most exciting chapters of the book are when these new friends take the reins and tell Krystal (and us) their life stories, and how God has touched them.
Things begin to move in the right direction for our protagonist – she even begins to stop cutting herself – but just as we start to think that she’s found her happily-ever-after, tragedy strikes at the shelter and at home, and darkness (seems to) overwhelm all…
Who wrote it?
I really must sharpen my googling skills, cos I couldn’t, for the life of me, find out what the “CL” in CL Wells stands for. Here’s what I do know: she lives in Kansas with her partner of over twenty years, and two aged pets. She is, unsurprisingly, a Christian, and a promoter of selfharm awareness. She’s also a huge fan of Tom Hanks, Tyler Perry and Oprah.
She is currently working on a sequel to Memoirs of a Girl Who Loves God. We can’t wait.
Although Jill finds herself wanting to get closer to Brian, she believes she can’t. Being hurt in the past, she vows to remain single the rest of her life, thinking it’s better not to love than to love and get burned. Brian, on the other hand, wants to get to the bottom of her fears and show her that not all men are the same. He is determined to win her trust, her heart and her hand in marriage.
Through pain, passion and pursuit, will Brian be able to prove to Jill what true love is all about?
Next Door Neighbors is the second in the Neighbors series, however, it is a completely standalone novel. You’ll find a strong attraction between the two main characters right in the first chapter, but nothing that will make you cringe or feel guilty reading about. This novel has an underlying message of what true love is all about, and is perfect for anyone that loves a good, clean romance without all the sex.
Years ago, Simon Johnson made a choice that changed his life for the worse. He’s looking to start over. After he sells some old jewelry tonight, he’ll send the divorce papers tomorrow. That’s the plan, anyway. At Joshua’s Pawn Shop, he’ll be given a different way to start over. The cost: he’ll have to not only let a tragedy happen, he’ll have to witness it.
Then a hurricane hits Florida, and Lynn finds herself involved in the homeless woman’s
murder. Detective Rich Richards thinks Lynn’s connection with the woman is suspicious, but Lynn doesn’t care what the blue-eyed detective thinks. She’s not leaving this investigation until the murderer is found.
On the other hand, Richards finds Lynn not just a disruption to his case, but also to his life as a nominal Christian. He’d do better to stay away from the tall, willowy blonde, but he can’t—because she and Sharee have unearthed evidence that will convict someone of murder, and that person has marked both women for death.
Victoria can’t wait to start college, but there’s a hitch—she can’t remember anything before arriving on campus. Her memories finally spark when she sees her ruggedly handsome math professor, but she senses something terrible happened. The shock on his face affirms her fears.
Toby is an alpha wolf who never thought he’d see his true love again—not after she died in his arms. Nothing could have prepared him for her walking into his class. But to his dismay, not only has she forgotten the past, she doesn’t even know who she is.
He’s determined to do whatever it takes to restore what they’ve lost. Can Toby help Victoria recover her memories, or will he lose her forever?
